New edition of The LogStash Book

Contents

One of the things that has always irritated me about technical books is that they date. Often really, really quickly. Add in a fast moving project, like say Puppet, and that can become really annoying. This is especially true of dead tree books where errata might only be updated if the publisher prints a new edition (and grumble sometimes not even then).

As some of you may have noticed The LogStash Book has gone through multiple versions.1 Some of these have been to address errata2 but many of the releases have been to address changes in LogStash and related products the book covered. This means each time someone buys and downloads the book (or re-downloads the new version) they get an up-to-date and most importantly functional guide to LogStash.

I am pleased to announce that the book has been extensively updated to reflect the changes in the LogStash 1.2.0 release. There’s new content, updates to reflect the new event schema and a number of fixes derived from errata submitted by people who’ve bought the book.

You can find a full list of the changes and updates here.

If you’ve previously bought the book then this update is totally free.3 Otherwise you can purchase the book from the website or on Kindle from Amazon.

Please continue to send me feedback, reviews and errata as it is very much appreciated!
