The Haneef saga continues to get more ludicrous. “He has been charged with recklessly supplying a mobile phone sim card to a terrorist.” What a joke. Ten days of detention and the worst thing he potentially did (we have this little principle called ‘innocent until proven guilty’ that the AFP keeps forgetting) was supply a SIM card. And I can see him totally getting a fair trial. Not. P.S. The Indian police’s response to AFP enquiries about Haneef? “We don’t welcome casual and informal inquiries against a suspect who has been detained without charge.” It’s always good when we’re taught lessons about jurisprudence from developing countries.
